How do I play Matchplay 9/14?
You are required to predict the full-time outcome of nine soccer matches from around the world, from a list of 14 fixtures. You don’t have to predict the score – just whether each match will end in a home win, a draw or an away win. Go to the How to Play page for a full step-by-step guide.
Why do I only have to make nine predictions?
It’s a twist of Matchplay 9/14 compared to other Matchplay games, that you don’t have to predict the outcome of every match on the list. It allows you to consider which matches on the list might be the easiest to predict and avoid the trickier ones if you wish. You are not allowed to make more than nine predictions (or fewer).
Can I play a QuickPick?
Yes, you can submit a Quick Play if you would prefer a random selection, and nine outcomes will be generated at random. This is also a good way to play multiple boards at once, and you can choose to enter up to 256 boards.
How do I win a Matchplay 9/14 prize?
To win a prize, you must get at least eight predictions correct out of nine. You win the top prize if you get all nine predictions correct.
How much does it cost to play Matchplay 9/14?
Matchplay 9/14 costs R2 per board.
How old do I have to be to play?
The minimum age to play any South Africa Lottery game is 18.
Can I play Matchplay 9/14 in advance?
You cannot play multiple games in advance, because fixture lists are only confirmed a few days ahead. You always have different matches to bet on, so it is not possible to carry predictions forward from one set of games to the next.
Where can I get the latest fixture list?
Fixture lists can be obtained from National Lottery retailers. Alternatively, go to the Matchplay 9/14 Fixtures page to see the next round of matches that you can bet on.
What are the odds of winning?
The odds of getting nine predictions correct are 1 in 19,683, while the odds of getting eight out of nine are 1 in 1,094. However, this is based on a random selection, and soccer matches are not determined at random in the same way as lottery draws.
How can I improve my chances of winning?
One way to improve your chances of winning is to play multiple boards. The other way is to study the form of the soccer teams you are betting on, as results are not entirely random like lottery draws.
Is there a minimum jackpot?
No, there is no minimum jackpot. Instead, a portion of the prize pool is allocated to each of the two divisions. The prize pool is generated by revenue from ticket sales.
What happens if one of the scheduled matches does not take place?
Soccer matches can occasionally be postponed (for example, if bad weather does not allow the game to go ahead). If this happens, all bets placed on that fixture are settled as correct (Home win, Away win and Draw).
What happens if there no prize winners?
If nobody wins in Division 1 or Division 2, the prize money carries over to Division 1 for the next game.
How long do I have to claim a prize?
