How to Play and Win Matchplay 14 Omnisports

Learn how to play Matchplay 14 Omnisports and the requirements for winning a prize. It is an easy game to play that follows the same format as Matchplay 14, but the big difference is that you can predict the outcome of several different sports instead of just soccer. Follow the step-by-setp guide below before you play online or at a retailer.

Pick up a fixture list

Matchplay 14 Omnisports fixture lists are announced ahead of each draw. These can be obtained from National Lottery retailers, or you can view the featured events on the Matchplay 14 Omnisports Fixtures page.

The sports differ from list to list, but they may be soccer, rugby, cricket, tennis, basketball, hockey, athletics, swimming, cycling or motorsport.

Make your selections

Each fixture has its own row and three possible outcomes - 1 for a Home win, X for a Draw or 2 for an Away win. For individual sports, outcomes are determined by the podium position (1 for first place, X for second place and 2 for third place).

Mark your prediction for each fixture, or use the QuickPlay option to get a random selection in a hurry. Simply choose how many boards you want to generate: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, 32, 64, 128, or 256..

Multi-Play option

The Multi-Play option allows you to choose more than one outcome for a single fixture. For example, there may be a rugby match on the fixture list that you’re not confident about, so you may decide to mark all three options.

This method can guarantee that you get some of your predictions correct, but you must pay for each combination of 14 predictions that you submit.

Pay for tickets

Once you have checked your selections, give your betslip to the teller and pay for your ticket. For online players, just ensure there are enough funds in your account. The cost for Matchplay 14 Omnisports is R2 per board.

You’ll be able to see your picks on your ticket, so you can just wait for all the fixtures to be played to determine whether you are a winner.

How to Win Matchplay 14 Omnisports

You need to get all 14 predictions correct to win the top prize, but there are also payouts for getting 11, 12 or 13. A percentage of the prize pool goes to each of the four prize divisions..

The table below shows the prize percentages and the odds of winning in each division. Keep in mind that match results are taken from the official score at the end of normal time (for example, penalty shootouts do not count in soccer, or extra time in rugby).

Prize Division Correct Predictions Prize Pool Percentage Odds of Winning
1 14 35% 1 in 47,782,969
2 13 20% 1 in 170,820
3 12 20% 1 in 13,140
4 11 25% 1 in 1,643

The prize money rolls over to Division 1 of the next draw if nobody gets all 14 predictions correct. Division 2 rolls down to Division 3 and Division 4 if nobody gets 13 out of 14. If there are no Division 3 winners, this money is diverted to Division 4. If there are no winners across all four prize divisions, the entire prize pool rolls over to Division 1 of the next draw.

In terms of odds, the probabilities above assume random selections. In reality, sporting events are not determined purely by chance. Other factors are at play, such as the ability of the participants, unlike a lottery where the outcome is always random.
