PowerBall Plus Jackpot is Second-Largest in History

Last Updated: Thursday, 31 March 2022, 12:59pm

The PowerBall Plus jackpot has climbed to R87 million, making it the second-largest jackpot to have ever been seen in the game’s history.

The top prize has been growing steadily since it was last won on 18 January, and over the last couple of weeks it has been moving up the top five list.

It has now gone above the R83 million jackpot that went to a player from Cape Town back in April 2019, and is closing in on the nine-figure mark.

“We wait in anticipation to see who will win the jackpot, it’s always interesting to observe the nature of hope among our players, who take the chance of possibly next in line to become a multi-millionaire,” said Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of National Lottery operator Ithuba.

The only time the PowerBall Plus jackpot has been bigger was in 2020, when a man from KwaZulu-Natal ended up winning R153 million after more than six months of rollovers.

The PowerBall Plus jackpot currently eclipses the top prize for Powerball, which is worth R26 million after being won earlier in March.

It is not uncommon for the PowerBall Plus jackpot to be the bigger of the two, but you cannot take part in the Plus draw without entering the main PowerBall game.

The numbers you use in PowerBall are also entered into the Plus game. The two draws are conducted separately so you can win prizes in both games on the same night.

Keep up to date with the latest results after every draw, and take part if you can to give yourself a chance of becoming the next big winner.
