PowerBall Jackpot is Second-Largest in History

The PowerBall jackpot has soared to an estimated R165 million ahead of Friday night’s draw. It is the second-biggest prize ever to have been seen in the game.
Tuesday night’s draw produced the 24th rollover in a row as nobody matched all the numbers - 1, 4, 14, 39 and 49, plus the PowerBall of 13.
However, there were more than 494,000 prizes paid out altogether, including two players who matched all five main numbers without the PowerBall to bank R397,121 each. Take a look at the PowerBall Results page to see all the payouts.
The jackpot has been growing since a single ticket holder won R100 million on 16 November, and has been steadily climbing the top 10 over the past few weeks.
Now there has only ever been one larger jackpot in the history of PowerBall. A man from Cape Town won R232 million back in February 2019. He came forward just a week after winning and decided to remain anonymous, although he did say that he would carry on working.
The jackpot jumped up quickly from draw to draw just before that record win in 2019, and a similar acceleration can be expected now as players from all over South Africa aim for the big prize.
There’s also R29 million in the PowerBall Plus pot after a sixth successive rollover in the supplementary game.
You can take part in PowerBall online or by visiting a local store. Make sure to keep your ticket safe if you’ve played in-store, then use the handy PowerBall Checker to find out if you are a winner.
