Last-Minute Ticket Nets R39 Million For Lucky Lotto Player

The largest Lotto jackpot of the year has been won by a single player, who left it until very late to take part in Saturday night’s draw.
The jackpot was worth more than R39 million following a sequence of 14 draws without a winner dating back to 9 March.
It was prevented from rolling over again, though, as someone matched the numbers 14, 22, 27, 28, 35 and 45. More than 83,000 other prizes were paid out across the other seven divisions. Check out all the Lotto Payouts for 30 April.
The jackpot winner has not yet come forward, but it has been revealed that they played at about 7:30pm on the night of the draw, around an hour before ticket sales closed.
The winner spent just R10 on their wager and used their FNB app. “It is interesting, as this player could be based anywhere in the country. We are ready to receive him or her,” said Charmaine Mabuza, Ithuba CEO.
“This shows the different ways our players can play the National Lottery games. As is evident here through our partnership with FNB, we have made yet another winner.”
The Lotto jackpot had previously been won in three consecutive draws in early May, before it embarked on its long run of rollovers. The highest prize paid out this year had previously been a jackpot of R26 million on 12 January.
The record for the biggest Lotto jackpot in history stands at R110 million. Four ticket holders - two from the Western Cape, one from KwaZulu-Natal and one online player - split this amount back in January 2018.
Meanwhile, the PowerBall jackpot is up to R83 million ahead of the next drawing on Tuesday 3 May. Keep an eye on all the latest lottery results as soon as draws take place.
